Progress Report Comments — Draft Batch 1

Miku participates actively in every lesson. She learns all the songs and sings along, and has been really welcoming to her new classmates, helping them feel comfortable. She also does her homework ahead of schedule, and the quality of it is very good. Going forward, I'd like to work on improving her writing to make it a little faster and neater, but that should come naturally with time and more practice.

Since joining us, Katsushiro has settled in well and become confident using English in the classroom. He's a leader in the class — most recently in Book 1 Unit 1 Lesson 1, he took charge of creating a shopping list using the vocabulary we'd just learned. He does his weekly workbook homework well. Although he's doing fantastically, I'd like him to focus a bit more on his phonics and wordsplash homework too.

Shuto just joined us but is quickly becoming more comfortable using English in class and cooperating with his classmates. He speaks in a nice, bright voice and is happy to do his best in every activity, so I expect his English skills to keep improving quickly over the coming weeks. Since he just started, I'd recommend he keep up to date with his phonics and wordsplash lessons alongside everything else.

Kasumi is using English in a brighter, louder voice now and is becoming more confident in class. She's begun doing her homework and is steadily catching up with phonics and wordsplash since our recent parent meeting. Phonics should be her main focus, as it'll improve her reading and pronunciation a lot. Her writing is fast, her ideas are creative, and she uses English in a fun way — a good sign if she keeps up the phonics and wordsplash.

Haruhito is becoming more confident and settling into class nicely. Since Book 1 Unit 3 Lesson 3, his voice seems to have opened up — he no longer waits for Ayaka or me to say the grammar or vocabulary before speaking, and jumps in on his own now. The focus needs to be phonics and writing at this stage, and doing his phonics and wordsplash homework is crucial for him right now to keep this progress moving.

Ayaka is the leader of the class and works well with her new classmate Haruhito. She's confident picking up and using vocabulary, and although grammar can still be a little difficult for her sometimes, she doesn't shy away from trying, which I really respect. She does good homework and is always happy to present her mini presentation, putting real effort into it each time she's up in front of the class.

Yutaro has become more confident using English in class. He uses a louder, brighter voice, and recently in Unit 1 Book 3 Lesson 6 he participated in the mini game "Bang!" by quickly and accurately using the grammar structures of the unit — he's improved a lot since starting with us. Yutaro also does really good homework consistently. If we focus on phonics and quick writing, I think he'll keep improving from here.

Junsei is a leader in the classroom and confidently handles activities. He does good homework and works well with his classmates. He makes things fun and uses English in a creative way, which makes the whole class more enjoyable for everyone. Going forward, I'd like to focus on phonics and writing with him — I think it'll help him improve a lot if he can read and pronounce words more clearly and confidently.

Yohei's listening has been improving, and during the listening tasks in Book 1 Unit 3 he's been getting more correct answers. He works well with his classmates, often making activities like the mini game or the "Try It Out" activity more fun for everyone. Yohei will benefit a lot from doing more phonics and wordsplash — it improves both reading and pronunciation, and that's the next focus point for him.

Mariko works really well with her classmates and leads group activities. Her reading and listening have improved a lot, and she's quite a confident speaker during vocabulary lessons (Lessons 1 and 3). If she kept up more with her workbook homework, like the mini presentation, along with her wordsplash and phonics to aid her reading and writing, her improvement from here would be quite significant.

Ena is a confident speaker who uses a bright, loud voice in class. She does her homework well and makes good presentations during the mini presentation. She's been especially welcoming to her new classmates Annalee and Yohei, helping them get settled and feel more comfortable in the lesson. Her listening is well developed. Going forward, I think the focus should be writing and grammar for her next.

Annalee is new to the class but has already become more comfortable. In the most recent lesson, Book 2 Unit 1 Lesson 1, she started answering in a bright, loud voice and participated actively in both the "Try It Out" activity and the game. I think the more she opens up, the more she'll contribute in class going forward. She's continuing to do her homework, which is a great way to improve outside the classroom.

Shoji has kept up with his homework and has begun making good progress since joining the class. He's active during mini games and other activities. He can be a little shy during the mini presentation, so I'd advise him to write a few things down beforehand or practice a bit at home. I do appreciate that he always does his homework without fail. He's also become nicer to his classmates, and uses English in a fun, engaging way.

Aoi's English is really advanced for her age — she's genuinely very good, so I'd like to see her try to believe in herself a bit more. I often rely on her to read something aloud when I know the other students can't. She does her homework on time and the quality is good, and her writing, listening, and reading are all strong. Going forward, the focus is presentation skills and becoming a more confident, active speaker. She can do it.

Saki always performs well on the listening task, and during the mini presentation she delivers her presentations with confidence. She completes her phonics and wordsplash homework steadily, though I'd encourage her to try to catch up and do a little more. At the beginning she didn't want to lead discussions, but recently she's become more confident speaking up with a nice, bright voice — let's keep that going.

Riko is the leader of the class. She uses English in a fun and engaging way that makes lessons more enjoyable for her classmates, and honestly for me too. She could benefit from doing a little more homework, but her classroom participation is strong — she's always using English to speak to me and her classmates rather than falling back on Japanese. During activities, she consistently has ideas to give to the rest of the class.

Saya does her phonics homework and weekly presentation. She participates well with her classmates during mini games and class activities, and is good at quickly picking up new vocabulary — she seems to genuinely enjoy that part of the lesson. Now the focus is helping her put together grammar structures more confidently, so she can start using what she's learned in fuller sentences during class rather than single words.

Since joining the class, Masafuji contributes actively to every lesson. He's eager to use English and speaks to me in English as well as with his classmates. He really enjoyed talking about his own clothes and his classmates' clothes during Unit 3 Lessons 1 through 4, and got involved enthusiastically. Going forward, the focus is improving the speed of his writing, as his pace is still a little slow while he writes.

Ryo's voice has genuinely become louder and brighter over the last year. He always does very good homework, especially his weekly mini presentation, which he clearly puts effort into. He's also listening to me more when I ask him to focus on a task, and uses English actively during lessons rather than staying quiet. A really encouraging change to see over this stretch of time, and I hope it continues.

Nagisa is the leader of this class — she's very confident and clearly enjoys using English. She's very punctual with her homework, and answers questions quickly during grammar lessons, showing a strong grasp of the material. Her English itself is good, so the next step is presentation skills — facing the audience with more confidence rather than looking down or away when she's up front presenting.

Hono does her best every lesson and works well with her classmates. She currently attempts her grammar homework each week, which is a good habit to keep up. Going forward, Hono will definitely benefit from doing her phonics and wordsplash homework a lot more consistently as well, alongside her grammar practice. Building this routine will help support her reading and pronunciation from here onward.

Since his very first lesson, ●● has participated with real enthusiasm. Since joining, he's been active in completing his homework for both the workbook and phonics and wordsplash — a great habit to see this early on in his time with us. He delivers his workbook mini presentation with confidence, and participates well with his classmates during activities and games. A strong start to keep building on.

Hiro leads the class and works well with her classmates. During the mini presentation, she always goes first and presents confidently. Her writing, listening, and speaking are all strong, and she uses English in a fun way to communicate with me and her classmates. She always asks me questions in English and tells me about things using English, which is a great sign for how she'll use it as a communication tool. She also likes to help her classmates when they need it — just keep it up.

Mihono has started to speak in a louder, more confident voice — especially when she's sure she knows the correct answer. That's great, but I'd like her to try that same confidence even when she isn't sure, since the classroom is a good place to make mistakes. Her English is getting better, and she's eager to work with her classmates. She does steady homework, which has helped. Her next focus is presentations — being confident and not following my lead, something she's done many times before.

Munyu leads the classroom too. He loves games and activities and any chance to use English, especially more active games where he can move around while using the language — that's when he really comes alive. He's fast, enjoys a competitive style with his classmate Hiro, and is often the first to answer questions. He uses English creatively, which is wonderful to see. The area to work on is homework — he currently does very little, and doing more would bring his skills up even further.

Yutaro has developed into a confident and active English speaker since joining us — his level genuinely astonishes me. He can talk to me about his hobbies and what he does weekly with ease. Classes are often too easy for him, so while he waits for others to finish I give him extra writing tasks. His presentations are always unique and imaginative, like his Book 1 Unit 3 presentation where he said he wants to give an LED light to Edison. It's an honour to teach him — he should keep going as is.

Sakurako has a very fast response speed — she can think and answer quickly in English. During writing tasks she finishes quickly and needs extra work while she waits for others to catch up. She loves drawing, and for the Unit 2 Lesson 5 presentation she drew a wonderful picture based on the story we'd read. Sakurako has done her homework diligently, completing her first book's wordsplash and phonics in full. If she keeps this up, I believe she'll continue to see real improvement.

Yushi's listening is good — he regularly performs well on the listening part of the lesson. During conversation roleplay, he can quickly take part without stuttering or needing time to read first, which shows real comfort with the language. He does his homework diligently and to a good standard. Going forward, the focus for Yushi is grammar structures, building on the strong listening and speaking foundation he already has.

Akari has fun with English — she likes making jokes and playing with words, which makes lessons more enjoyable for her and her classmates. She does her homework at a steady pace. Reading is still a little difficult for her, but she has improved a bit lately, which is encouraging. Going forward, the focus is building more confidence with phonics and reading, so those skills can catch up with how playful and comfortable she already is with the spoken language.
